Rooted in Love — How My Abuelita, Richmond Youth & World Travels Shaped Juntos Podemos
Some things start small and grow into something beautiful.
For me it started with my abuelita in México, summer mornings, cafecito con pan dulce, and the kind of warmth that makes anywhere feel like home. Those moments planted a seed.
It grew through years of working alongside youth when developing a STEM program, supporting research projects, and watching their creativity become a city mural. I saw how belonging transforms communities.
It bloomed through travel. Roasting courses in Copenhagen, Denmark deepened my craft and showed me how coffee connects people across cultures and borders. Coffee origin trips in Latin America brought me closer to the farmers, the land, and the stories behind every bean. And fermentation courses unlocked a whole new world of flavor, complexity, and possibility in my eyes. My appreciation and admiration for coffee producers grew. And attending the Coffee Excellence Center at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences brought it all together, deepening my understanding of the science behind every cup and fueling my commitment to quality and excellence.
Every experience, every community, every origin, every course, led me here.
Juntos Podemos grew from all of these moments. A space rooted in connection, collaboration, and community, where everyone is welcome, every farmer is celebrated, and every cup tells a story.
Juntos Podemos means together. One cup at a time.
